Here’s what I’m all about…
Hey, friend. Thanks for stopping by. I’m Beau Morrow, a Coast Guard veteran and fitness coach.
Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of military service in the States and through oversea deployments on anti-drug and anti-trafficking missions. Throughout that time, I’ve built a functional, lean military physique and helped numerous brothers & sisters in the service to do the same. Now, I do the same for those outside of the military.
It all started with bootcamp
I was never really the ‘fitness’ type. Throughout high school and college, I played soccer & wrestled, but that was the extent of my athleticism.
But after graduating college, and without sports to help my metabolism, I quickly became overweight.
Even worse, I was working a dead-end security job on 3rd shift, wrecking my sleep, and allowing my stress and eating habits to overwhelm me.
In hopes of changing my life around (both job & body), I enlisted with the U.S. Coast Guard and began to train earnestly before bootcamp started.
The problem was that I had no idea what to do. I resorted to what I knew from soccer and wrestling – run. In fact, I stayed away from the weights in the gym and the lifters that were there.
I made almost no progress by the time bootcamp started. It was going to be a rough road ahead.
After 8 weeks of training, I had dropped from 210 to 167. I was lean, happy, and ready for a new journey ahead. But a year later, I’d be overweight yet again. What gives?
The military formula
When I realized I needed to get back into shape ASAP at my first unit, I dove headfirst into training. I tested, optimized, and read everything I could about fitness.
I realized that the formula that worked for me before was relatively simple: nutrition, exercise, and accountability were the cornerstones of military fitness training.
Not only that, the same objective analysis I did as an Intelligence Analyst in the Coast Guard, working with reports and numbers, helped me to develop a concise system based on measurements and math rather than any sort of mysticism or magic that is prevalent in the fitness space.
